Some new Jewelry for my "Ugly" Buffet

This little depression era buffet is one of my favorite pieces. When I found her and her little brother "China Cabinet" at the Goodwill 8 years ago they were ugly brown, sad, chipped and 50% off. Even so, I could tell they were sturdy and they reminded me of my Grandma. When my hubby and brother in law went to pick them up for me I think they were a little repulsed. When they moved them in for me they asked "are you sure you want these?" "Yes I want them. They are going to be super cute with a coat of paint." I replied.

Since they have been with me they have been white, red and black. They have been moved, bumped, sanded, chipped and pretty much abused. They are not fancy but they are strong. I love them.

I was at Hob Lob (again, I know, I know) yesterday and I found these great chunky ceramic knobs in a bunch of fabulous colors and shapes and I thought my beloved buffet would look so cute, maybe even a little fresh, dressed in these. So I bought three sets of different shapes in black and cream. They look great with the toile shades.

Aren't they sweet?

Doesn't she look proud?

Maybe now I'll finally paint the dinning room. I am still not sure if I want red or tan. What do you all think?

Aimee, I just love that piece & it really looks great with the new knobs. I'll have to look around HL & see what I can find. I love knobs like that.

I think I'll vote a pretty Latte color for your walls, since I've had red awhile & am thinking of making a change down the road.

Would you consider taking off your letter verification? YOu might not even know it's enabled, but it sure makes it a lot easier to post when these aren't on....you just have to change it in your comments section. Uncheck the box...pretty please?!

Love those knobs, I didn't know Hobby Lobby carried knobs. I think tan and red would both be great! Go for it you only live once and it can be painted over some day.

CUTE knobs! And what great furniture you got at Goodwill... I have YET to find a piece of furniture there that is worthy of a can of paint. hee hee

I'm voting for tan in your dining room. I am SO OVER the red in my kitchen already. Isn't that horrible? :oX However...red with black toile IS heavenly...

Love your buffet and love the HobLob knobs! I've been eyeing them in my store but haven't bought any yet. Why can't I find buffets like yours? Exactly what I need for my dining room.

Totally, totally, totally red. That way I can live vicariously through you. I'm working up the guts to do something red, but so far I've only made it as far as red accent pieces throughout my house.

Love the knobs. Isn't it amazing what paint and some new hardware can do? That's what I tell my hubby when he sees the bill for my makeup and haircuts.*grin*

The knobs look great. I love a red dining room but for myself haven't been brave enough to do it.

Love the buffet and Hobby Lobby too. It's like she got a new pair of earings. As for the wall color I think a tan or latte would look great. With a color like that you can always change your accessories if you wanted.

I love that buffet. What a find, You've made it look beautiful and I love your fun decorations on top of it. I'm all about tan or beige or whatever you want to call it for a paint color. Your seem to have pretty darn good taste though, I sure it will look great whatever color you paint it.

I love that piece! Beautiful! And the new knobs dress her all up! Oh how I wish for a Hobby Lobby nearby.

Little secret for you...I bought a buffet from Goodwill a few weeks ago that could be the sister of yours. I got her for a song because she needs some love. I'm thinking a coat of black paint will make her beautiful.

Thanks for sharing.

What a beauty is your buffet!! I like that style very much and would be happy to find a similar one for one of our rooms! That black colour is really elegant.
